Long Range Planning Committee

COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION: LONG-RANGE PLANNING

GROUP: BUSINESS AFFAIRS
CHARGE: To monitor progress on existing long range plans, to facilitate the development of new long range projects when necessary, and to brainstorm solutions to congregational needs based on input from the board, committees and the membership.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Involve as much of the congregation as possible in strategic planning for the Society's programs and facilities.
2. Prepare long-term strategic plans (a five-year horizon is suggested) for approval by the Board of Trustees and the congregation related to but not limited to financial and facilities issues.
3. Maintain and monitor long-range plans through annual review and revision, if necessary.
4. Seek congregational approval of long-range plans at least once every three years or more often if major changes make it necessary.
5. Monitor the implementation of long-range plans.
6. Prepare an annual report to the Board and congregation on the status of plans and its implementation.
7. Provide the congregational administrator and the vice president with copies of minutes and reports.

MEMBERS: 5-6 people (including a youth representative) appointed by the Board of Trustees
TERMS OF OFFICE: 2 or 3 three-year appointments and 3 two-year appointments to be staggered
MEETING SCHEDULE: Monthly
